ELM (External list management) message to be replaced

Hi Experts

While using the ELM, we encounter an error as " TARGET FIELD XXXX DATA IS LONGER THAN THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED LENGTH" . This error occurs for the field which ever has an incorrect data maintained in the File.

Question here is:

1) As this is a standard message can we use the SAP message replacement functionality here and if so what is the exact procedure for it? ( I have tried this approach and could not get the expected result).

2) If there is any other procedure which can be used to change the message text of " TARGET FIELD XXXX DATA IS LONGER THAN THE MAXIMUM ALLOWED LENGTH".

(Message class: CRM_MKTLIST_MR & Message No. 102).

Quick response is very much appreciated as this is a very urgent requirement.
