BP data Update @ Runtime

Hi

I have a requirement where in i need to update business partner " searchterm2 " by fetching it through a RFC Function module from other system when the user clicks on save.

Update BP field before save

I have gone through the above mentioned thread but i could not successfully update "searchterm2 " @ runtime.

FM "BUP_BUPA_UPDATE" triggers upon saving a BP which further implements 'BUP_BUPA_UPDATE_BASIS_INTERNAL'.  where we can change the data @ runtime successfuly, i called in this FM in my 'PARTNER_UPDATE' badI after manipulation the 'searchterm2' with the value fetched through RFC FM call. But still I could not be successful in updating the BP searchterm2 @ runtime.
