Editing MS Excel files in CRM Content Management

Hello, CRM gurus.

We need an opportunity to edit attachments (MS Excel) without using check-in/check-out functionality. How can we reach it?

P.S. I've found a note (the last date of refresh - 16.01.2013) which tells us that there is such an opportunity for MS Word files (1735356 - Editing MS Word files in CRM Content Management ), but it is not valid for MS Excel.
