This approach seems to be silly.But it will be very helpful.
As this is working perfectly in Development, Open the development and quality systems and keep the break point the event handler of the link in both the systems.
Now compare both the systems in debug mode, to find out where exactly the issue is.
Check in desktop2 and see the call stack and check which methods or function modules are not called in quality.
